Iranian Studies Support Fund

Iranian Studies Support Fund

  • The Iranian Studies Support Fund is a long-term endowment whose proceeds support academic and cultural programs related to Iran, including Persianlanguage and literature courses.

In 2017, some Illinois faculty and community members established an endowment, named the Iranian Studies Support Fund, with the stipulation that the proceeds of the endowment be used for academic and cultural activities related to Iran. The allocation of the proceeds will be determined by the Iranian Studies Committee, composed of representatives of faculty, students, and the Iranian community at UIUC under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The initial level of funding generates enough proceeds to provide seed money for a few events. However, the founders of the Fund are confident that the community members and other donors will contribute to the Fund to help it reach levels that can support wider ranges of activity and also provide a leverage to attract large grants from well-endowed foundations, thus encouraging and enabling the University to establish endowed language and literature positions related to Iran.
