CSAMES Graduate Student Travel to Conference Grants

CSAMES offers small grants for its own M.A. students, in any academic discipline, to travel to conferences at which they will present papers with relevance to South Asian or Middle Eastern Studies. A graduate student may apply for up to $500 for this purpose in advance by filling out the application form and submitting it along with a brief abstract of the paper including a paragraph summarizing the relevance of this paper to your overall research program. Also include a copy of your curriculum vita and a copy of the conference program or a letter of notification of the acceptance of the paper. Recipients must provide original receipts for transportation and/or accommodation costs. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis.

If your application is approved, we will notify you of this within one week.

A student who receives one of these grants is strongly encouraged to give a talk to the CSAMES community at one of our informal Tuesday noon brown bag lectures.

(Students: You can "try out" your conference talk on us before the fact! We are a kind audience!) Please send one hard copy of these materials to the CSAMES office, 221 ISB, 910 South Fifth Street, Champaign IL 61820 (MC-489). For further information, contact the CSAMES office at 244-7331 or csames@illinois.edu Download the application form <http://www.csames.illinois.edu/documents/trave_%20form_students.doc>  (opens in a new window).
